Prof. Dr. Mohamed AbdelAziz AbdelHamid holds a Ph.D. in Strategic Planning in Regional Development from Portland University, USA, in collaboration with Al-Azhar University. He also holds a Master’s degree in Regional Development Planning from Institute of social Studies (ISS), Netherlands, and a Master’s degree in Urban Planning from Al-Azhar University – Faculty of Engineering. Currently, Prof. Mohamed works as a professor of urban planning and GIS applications at Al-Azhar University – Faculty of Engineering – Department of Urban Planning. He previously served as the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Engineering for Graduate Studies and Scientific Research at Al-Azhar University, and was a visiting professor at King Saud University, College of Architecture and Planning. He has also worked as a consultant for the High Commission for the Development of Riyadh City for various planning projects. Additionally, he is a consultant in urban planning and GIS for the General Organization for Urban Planning – Ministry of Housing in Egypt, as well as for several planning institutions in Egypt. He is also a consultant for development, urbanization, and GIS applications for the United Nations Human Settlements Program (UN-Habitat). He has participated in scientific committees for conferences and seminars such as the National Forum for Geographic Information Systems in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia. Dr. Mohamed has numerous published research papers in scientific journals and international conferences in the field of urban planning and GIS applications.
