Andrea Bonetti received the M.Sc. degree in Electrotechnical Engineering from Sapienza University of Rome, Italy. He has over 30 years of experience in power system protection and IEC 61850 applications. He has worked with Megger Sweden AB, Hitachi Energy (formerly ABB), and as consultant in protection engineering. His interests include IEC 61850 standardization, digital substation testing, and relay protection.He is Chair of IEC TC 95 “Measuring Relays and Protection Equipment” and Vice Chair of IEEE PAR 3416. Since 2008, he has lectured at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH), Stockholm, and taught professional courses at Lernia University and STF in Sweden, training more than 2,000 engineers worldwide. Mr. Bonetti received the IEC 1906 Award in 2013 and holds two patents related to IEC 61850 testing algorithms.
