Prof. Hamid Bentarzi’s current research interests encompass microelectronics, electrical protection systems, smart power grids, and system reliability. His work primarily focuses on two main areas: microelectronics and the application of microelectronic systems to smart grids. He has developed innovative techniques and technologies to monitor, control, and protect smart grid components against disturbances. Additionally, he has supervised research projects on the development of Phasor Measurement Unit (PMU)-based Wide-Area Monitoring Systems (WAMS), with a focus on enhancing the observability and quality of power grid dynamics.
