Eng. Mohammad Abu Afifa has extensive experience in engineering development, training, and capacity building. He is a Board Member of the Arab Asset, Facility, and Maintenance Management Council, and a former Secretary General of the Jordan Engineers Association (JEA). He also previously served as Director General of the Engineers Training Center at JEA.
He worked earlier with the Jordanian Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Public Works and Housing on international projects. He has played a leading role in supporting engineers across the Middle East and Africa, developing their skills and competencies in line with international best-practice standards across multiple domains, including engineering consultancy, engineering education, professional certifications, and vocational qualification for engineers.
His professional contributions also extend to key engineering practice issues such as Public–Private Partnerships (PPP), governance and strategic planning, Total Quality Management, environmental health and safety, supply chain management, asset and facility management, and reform of engineering education.
For more than 20 years, he represented Jordan at the International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC). During this period, he supervised the Arabic translation of FIDIC’s standard contract forms and served as project manager for several internationally recognized engineering publications, including the Engineering Supervision Guide, the Reinforcement Steel Guide for Buildings, the Building Damage Assessment Guide, and the Post-Disaster Building Safety Procedures Guide.
